The Children of Marabut

"What do your parents know, about surviving?" (Lemony Snicket, The End)

Perhaps the answer lies in the smile of these kids from Marabut, Samar.

I've always wondered what it's like to have the Pacific Ocean at your backyard.

This girl is getting impatient at our unsystematic distribution of relief goods.

Mischievous boys provide some holiday cheer against a depressing backdrop of a typhoon-ravaged plantation.

Waiting for their turn to receive their relief packs:

It's not hard to solicit smiles from children, all you have to do is point your camera at them.

Err.. "Anyong Haseyo!"from Marabut, Korea.

Showing off his loot to his friends, and getting amazed that he's getting a toothbrush, finally.
